"വൈവിധ്യത്തിലെ ഏകത്വം" - Song Composition Work

As per the B.Ed curriculum prescribed by University of Kerala for Semester III, a song composition work has to be done by the teacher trainee, in connection with any of the topic handled in classroom during the training phase.

During the first phase of my B.Ed teaching practice, I was posted for training at BNV V&HSS for Boys, Thiruvallam. The allotted class was IXth standard. I handled a chapter named- കേരളം: 8ആം നൂറ്റാണ്ടു മുതൽ 18ആം നൂറ്റാണ്ടു വരെ - which basically talks about the cultural, geographical, political, social, land related and economic aspects of Kerala during the mid century of 8-18th CE.

This is a poem I composed on the same theme, en capsuling the essence of the chapter, and used during the end of the lesson- as a sumup of why the chapter is important. Since my lesson plans were in malayalam and I handled the malayalam medium students, the poem was also written in malayalam.

It goes like this....


വൈവിധ്യത്തിലെ ഏകത്വം

-------------------------------------------- 

സഹ്യസാനു ഒരുക്കുന്ന പച്ചപരവതാനി വിരിപ്പിൽ,

നദികൾ സൗമ്യമായി നെയ്ത ഒരു നാട്.

ചരിഞ്ഞമർന്നൊരു പെൺകിടാവ് ഞെളിഞ്ഞു കിടക്കുന്നപോൽ,

കോലത്തിരി മുതൽ നാടുചരിതം പേറും സുഹാസിതം,

എൻ കേരള നാട് !

പച്ചപ്പ്‌ നിറഞ്ഞ വയലുകളിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചവർ,

പ്രകൃതിയുടെ ആലിംഗനത്തിൽ സംസ്കാരങ്ങളാൽ ബന്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടവർ,

അറബികളും ചീനികളും പോർച്ച്യു-ഡച്ചുകാരും വന്നണഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ,

അവരിലും സമന്വയിച്ചു പുതിയ സംസ്കാരങ്ങൾ കണ്ടെത്തിയവർ !

ബഹുമാനത്തിൽ നിർമിച്ച സാമൂഹിക വ്യവസ്ഥ

എല്ലാ മനുഷ്യരിലും പങ്കുവെച്ചവർ,

പഴയ നാട്ടുവംശങ്ങൾ പോയി മറഞ്ഞെങ്കിലും,

നാടിന്റെ നന്മ ഇന്നും മനസ്സിൽ സ്വരുക്കൂട്ടുന്നവർ !

ജന്മിത്വവും ജാതിത്വവും പുകഞ്ഞു പുറത്തുചാടുന്നിടത്തോൾ,

ഏകത്വം പൂന്തിയ ചിന്തകൾ ശിരസ്സിൽ വഹിക്കുന്നവർ !

നൃത്തം-സംഗീതം-ശാസ്ത്രം-കലാപ്രവർത്തനം,

സമൃദ്ധമായ പര്വങ്ങളിൽ നിറഞ്ഞാടിയ ഉത്സവകോലങ്ങളും,

അനന്തമായ, സുവർണ സന്ദീപ്‌തമായ കടലും കാനനവും,

കൂട്ടുകെട്ടും സാമൂഹ്യതയും നിറഞ്ഞാടിയ കുടിയും ഊരാളരും,

കേരളത്തിന്റെ നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ മധ്യത്തിൽ,

ഓരോ വേഷവും മഹത്തായ ആശയങ്ങൾക്ക് വേദികൾ നൽകി !

പ്രിയ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളേ, ഇന്ന് നിങ്ങൾ താക്കോൽ പിടിക്കൂ...

സ്വപ്‌നങ്ങൾ പായുന്ന കേരളത്തിൻറെ മണ്ണിൽ,

ഭൂതകാലത്തിൽ നിന്നും-

അതിൻറെ ജ്ഞാനത്തിൽ നിന്നും പഠിക്കു ...

കോലത്തിരി മുതൽ നാടുചരിതം പേറും

മനോഹരം സുഭാഷിതം, ഈ കേരള നാട് !

  The phase 1 of teaching practice started on November 6 2023. Me  and 9 other of my classmates are assigned to BNV Boys HS Section, Thiruvallam, Thiruvananthapuram. I have already collected the portions by previous month. I am expected to teach class 9 C in Malayalam medium for the subject social science. Since this was the first week I am still getting acquainted with the class, students, teachers, and official settings of a school. It's your essay very good opportunity and being a boy school, I expect a little bit of challenge in managing discipline of the class. My class has 20 boys who come from various backgrounds. It is unfortunate that most of the students doesn't know how to write or read Malayalam properly, even though they are studying in 9th standard. "പൊലിക പൊലിക" - Digital Album on Performing arts (Theyyam)

As part of the third semester school based works of B.Ed curriculum prescribed by the University of Kerala, the teacher trainings are expected to create a digital album, based on any performing arts. I selected 'Theyyam'. Theyyam is a revered ritualistic dance form practiced in the states of Kerala and Karnataka, steeped in ancient traditions and customs dating back thousands of years.
