Weekly Reflection of Teaching Practise - Week 10 (January 22- January 25 2024)
With only a few days left before us to finish the pending portions and assigned works from the college and school, the trainees are already at full pace. Most of us as lagging behind the portion completion. Luckily, I need barely 5 more periods, and then I can start off with the revisions of these chapters, like I did during December.
This week I started with the last chapter which deals with a geography portion. The chapter is related to disaster management and various disasters that happened in Kerala and India during the past few years. It is quiet and interesting chapter to deal with and I look forward to introducing a lot of teaching aids in the classroom. I have a positive Outlook towards how to present this chapter to the students and how I can prepare them to the disasters that they might face or here of in their lifetime.
We also conducted a yoga workshop as part of our physical education and health education duties assignment from the college during this week.
I couldn't take much classes during this week I had only three out of 4 classes as 26th was a holiday due to the republic celebrations of India. On 22nd, 24th and 25th, I took three important parts of the chapter with adequate teaching aids and references. The teacher also appreciated the efforts I am taking to make students understand the basic concept of disasters and disaster management. Students where extremely active in the classroom trying to come out with their own versions of how to handle the earthquake and food, which we were dealing with.
I have rearranged the chapter, so that, I can bring out better teaching aids to show on a few of the lessons I am expected to take. As for the principles of teaching I have the authority to rearrange the textbook content and teach in an order which I find more convincing. I do think the chapter needs a little bit of rearrangement in terms of the concepts they have been aligned in.
I am planning to rearrange this chapter through my digital textbook activity which I am expected to do in my 3rd semester of b.Ed training.
