Weekly Reflection of Teaching Practise - Week 5 (July 01- July 5 2024 )

This week was not much eventful, but I feel like I am getting more confident in my teaching skills. I endured some doubts on my skills this week, on the new chapter - In Search of the Earth's secrets. It was a geography portion and I felt like I am not a good enough geography teacher at first. Hence I decided to take it a little slow. 

On monday (July 1 2024), I started a new chapter - In Search of the Earth's Secrets. As an introduction, I gave out the themes of geography, and why it is important in our life. I have a quick intro to the chapter and started with my first lesson plan. Students doesn't look to have a positive apprehension towards the subject, which might be because of the previous learning experience. It looks like a challenge in itself.
The school also conducted an assembly on that day, giving out trophies to the toppers of 10th and 12th classes during the previous academic year. 


On Tuesday (2/7/2024), I got two classes -Social science period and IT substitution. During the social science period, I did a quick revision of the previous chapter for the students who were absent during the previous week. On the substitution hour, I was able to take up two models of teaching- Concept attainment model on Fossils, and Advance Organiser Model on Layers of Earth. It was a delight to watch the students being active in the classroom with the concept attainment model.



On Wednesday (3/7), I had only one class, which also went without much differences. I took my diagnostic test on that day, and gave out some notes of the previous chapter during my period. 

Eventhough I do not have a class on Thursdays, this Thursday (4/7), I took a substitutional class for VIII C, as Soja - the English teacher, was absent. I taught the interior of Earth portion on that day. This was also one of my innovative aid classes, which actually went well and was well received among the students.

On Friday (5/7), Suni teacher came for observation for Gopika and I was asked to adjust my classes with her. Thus I took the second hour, where I could take the class on rocks. 
There was also a social science club inauguration and activity on this day. 
There was also a Basheer Day celebrations conducted by the Malayalam club, which included submitting drawings and baseer related quiz.

Week 5 of teaching practice phase 2 came to an end just like that !

"പൊലിക പൊലിക" - Digital Album on Performing arts (Theyyam)

As part of the third semester school based works of B.Ed curriculum prescribed by the University of Kerala, the teacher trainings are expected to create a digital album, based on any performing arts. Weekly Reflection of Teaching Practise - Week 1 (November 06- November 10 2023)

  The phase 1 of teaching practice started on November 6 2023. Me  and 9 other of my classmates are assigned to BNV Boys HS Section, Thiruvallam, Thiruvananthapuram. I have already collected the portions by previous month. I am expected to teach class 9 C in Malayalam medium for the subject social science. Since this was the first week I am still getting acquainted with the class, students, teachers, and official settings of a school. It's your essay very good opportunity and being a boy school, I expect a little bit of challenge in managing discipline of the class. My class has 20 boys who come from various backgrounds. It is unfortunate that most of the students doesn't know how to write or read Malayalam properly, even though they are studying in 9th standard.
