BNVCTE, Thiruvallam have been a refreshing experience in my entire higher education life. During the initial days, students interacted openly with each other even in the absence of teachers,  taking initiatives to know one another better.  Here is a video of me singing 'aayiram kannumayi' in the classroom. It is extremely rare for me to sing, that too infront of a crowd.  The following video is from hardly 3 4 days into  ollege, which it self shows how tremendously moving the experience was from the start itself. click here to watch the video

INTERACTIVE WHITE BOARD (Easy and comprehensive notes)

INTERACTIVE WHITE BOARDS The first revolutionary teaching tool- the humble blackboard- found its way into classrooms back in 1801, and had a profound impact on the nature of teaching oer the next 200 years. The blackboard became synonymous with the traditional classroom and, along with shiny red apples, is still seen as a stereotypical symbol of education. The interactive white board- or IWB- has the potential to be the second revolutionary teaching tool. Just as the black board was seen as a key part of 19 th and 20 th century classrooms, the IWB has the capacity to become synonymous with the new digital classrooms of the 21 st century. Despite its relative newness, the IWB exhibits the same capacity to fundamentally change- and indeed revolutionise – the nature of teaching. IWBs can let educators do more than just continue with the old ways. As interactive technologies become an accepted part of today’s digital classro...

Instructional aids are those devices or procedures that help to make teaching-learning more interesting, more stimulating, more reinforcing, and more effective. Good’s Dictionary on Education says ‘Anything by means which learning process may be encouraged or carried on through the sense of hearing or sense of sight’. Burton’s opinion says, ‘Instructional aids are those sensory objects or images which initiate, stimulate, and reinforce learning’ To make teaching learning process effective, the learning environment should be made realistic. Man learns through senses. Senses are the gateway of the knowledge, Social Studies deals with time, both the past and the present, and places not only of immediate vicinity, but of different corners of the world. To make this realistic, a variety of instructional aids have to be used. These aids are stimuli for learning. SIGNIFICANCE OF INSTRUCTIONAL AIDS IN TEACHING SOCIAL SCIENCE ΓΌ   They make social studies real, vivid, vital, intere...
